Two PORCELAIN BOWLS recovered from the shipwreck of the Maine brig BALTIC, wrecked during a hurricane on Oct. 1, 1866, off N. Eleuthera, Bahamas. Obtained from the auction at the Sloane Gallery, Miami, May 24, 1997. Inscribed on back of bowls is maker “Edward Clarke” manufactured in Tunstall, England. Photo of the two bowls, along with many other items salvaged from the wreck from this auction, can be seen at this link: https://www.historicsitesandshipwrecks.com/treasure-shop/. Scroll down to IMG0078. One bowl now has a crack and other was damaged and pieces glued back though not a great job (we used them and found "not microwaveable!" Photo of bowls along with the Makers mark on back. Wreck was found by Nick Maillis and was excavated under a Bahamian salvage permit in 1992. Price: $100 + shipping. Will include copy of an article I did on the wreck & salvage in the Winter 1996 "Treasure Quest" Magazine.
